Walking West Cornwall
West Cornwall is undoubtedly one
of the best walking locations in Britain, Its numerous footpaths,
bridleways, byways and green lanes can take you through a wide range
of landscapes from sandy beaches to rocky coves and rugged heaths
all within a few miles.
We have put together the
above walks in order that you too can enjoy the rambles which we
have discovered. While we have taken every reasonable care in the
production of these walks and other material on this website we can
assume no responsibility for accuracy (but if you come across any
problems or errors please
let us know
and we will correct them).
We welcome reviews of our
walks. If you have done any of our walks then please feel free to
contact us an let
us know what you thought of it.
In particular: When did you
do the walk? Did you enjoy the walk? Were our descriptions clear and
easy to follow? - if not how can we improve them? Were the paths
unobstructed, stiles in good repair etc? (in the unlikely event that
a path was impassable or obstructed in some way please report this
directly to
Cornwall County Council
and or
The Ramblers
Can you provide additional
notes, (historical, geological, archaeological etc) that would
enlighten other walkers? If so
we would welcome
them.
Flora and Fauna
The mild climate of Cornwall,
the wide variety of habitats, and the less intensive nature of
farming in Cornwall has lead to a great diversity of rich
habitats equally important for wildlife and plantlife. coastal
dunes, lowland heath, ancient woodlands and traditional meadows can
all be found within the peninsula and as a result there is an
unusual diversity of flora and fauna, some of which we have
attempted to show in the following pages.
For convenience we have divided this section according to the
predominant colour of the flowers of plants and the type of animals.
This is a rough and ready division and there may be some overlap. It
is very difficult for example to decide exactly which section a some
plants should be in.
We rely on amateur photographers and botanists to provide the photos
and to identify them. We welcome your contributions. If you have a
photo which you would like to see published on this site, perhaps
you have photographed something that we have missed, or you have a
better photo than ours, then we would be pleased to receive it. If
you believe that we have incorrectly identified anything, then again
we would like to know. All contributions will be fully credited.
